On April 26, dentist Virendra Kumar, a resident of Chakshah Nagar Nehru Colony, had given a complaint that he had gone to Roorkee on April 20 to attend a marriage ceremony with his family. When he returned on April 26, he found that the locks of the house were broken and jewelry worth lakhs and about Rs 18,000 had been stolen from the almirah kept in a room. A case was registered in this matter at Nehru Colony police station.
Under the supervision of SHO Lokendra Bahuguna, SSI Yogesh Dutt and Chowki Incharge Defense Colony Satbir Singh started scanning the CCTVs installed in the area. During this, a young woman and a young man were seen going towards the cameras. After investigation, the police arrested the accused Sonia and her lover Amarpal resident of Chakshah Nagar Nehru Colony and recovered the stolen jewelry from them.
During interrogation, Sonia told that she is a class 12 student and used to go to Virendra Kumar’s wife for tuition. A few days ago, the tuition teacher told that there is a marriage in Roorkee in his relation. He is going to attend the wedding for four-five days. Sonia knew that no one would be at her house during this time, so she along with her lover planned a heist. According to the plan, on the night of April 21, both of them broke the locks of the house and stole all the jewelery and cash kept in the almirah kept there.
Both hid the stolen jewelry in a ground nearby and went to Haridwar to have fun themselves. Both stayed the night in a hotel in Haridwar and the next morning quietly returned to their respective homes.
Sonia deposited the remaining Rs 10,000 from the stolen cash in her bank account. On April 26, both were trying to sell the jewelry, where the police arrested them
