772 men and 696 women selected for Haj
Dehradun. The applicants have been selected for Haj pilgrimage from Uttarakhand. Out of 1718, 1468 believers have been selected in the Qurrahandaji done in random digital mode by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. These include 108 reserved category women above 70 years of age and 12 women without Mehram. People have been informed about their selection through messages. 772 men and 696 women will perform Haj.
According to Uttarakhand Haj Committee President Khatib Ahmed and Secretary Mohammad Meesham, 1718 people had applied from Uttarakhand. 1468 is selected after polling in random digital mode. Messages have been sent to all. There is an appeal to the Hajis to keep their preparations complete, soon the circular will come for the details of the expenditure and the first instalment. The flight will leave in late May or early June. It has been asked to get the second dose of corona vaccine.
On March 31, Uttarakhand was given a quota of 1072 seats in an online random poll conducted by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. In which all the people of Haridwar got selected, other districts including USnagar, Doon, Nainital got less seats. Due to which there was despair among the applicants and their phones started ringing. Taking immediate cognizance of this, Chairman Khatib Ahmed and Secretary Mohammad Meesham tried to increase them. Mantralaya was contacted and the Speaker also reached Delhi. After which the quota was increased to 1468, which is the highest quota ever received for the first time. In 2019, a quota of 1238 was received. According to Chairman Khatib Ahmed, now 250 people are left. Efforts are being made for these.
