Angered by being slapped, a drug addict killed a woman and hanged her body from a mango tree.

Kashipur. The drug addict of the village of Kashipur Kotwali area had strangled Munni Devi, wife of a retired village development officer, to death after slapping her and hanged the body from a mango tree. Police arrested the accused and recovered the sickle, saree, palli etc. used in the crime.
Munni Devi alias Munia (52), wife of retired VDO Chandrika Prasad, originally resident of Gorakhpur and Hal village Dhanori, had gone to Bhagwantpur farm on May 17 to collect grass from the sugarcane field. His body was found hanging in a mango tree in the afternoon. There was blood on the mouth and lips of the deceased and scratch marks on the body. The post mortem report revealed that Munni was strangled to death. Due to no motive, it was a big challenge for the police to disclose the incident. Apart from five police teams, SOG was also deployed by the SSP for disclosure. Under the supervision of ASP Abhay Singh and CO Vandana Verma, the police team led by Kotwal Manoj Ratudi arrested the accused Manoj Singh alias Vinod (22) s/o Jeet Singh, resident of Dhanaura village on the basis of scientific evidence. SP Crime Chandrashekhar Ghodke told that the arrested accused also belongs to the village of the deceased. He is the conductor of a school bus. When Munni went to collect grass, the accused was smoking cannabis in the field. He had a dispute with Munni over some issue. On this Munni slapped him. Angered by this, the accused lashed out at Munni. In defence, Munni struck with her sickle, which cut off one of the accused’s fingers. In a fit of rage, the accused killed Munni by strangling her and hanged her body from a mango tree. SP Crime said that a reward of Rs 2.5 thousand has been announced for the team which disclosed the incident. Kotwal Manoj Raturi, SSI Pradeep Mishra, SI Kapil Kamboj, Vinod Joshi, Naveen Budhani, Santosh Devrani, Devendra Samant and Kanchan Padaliya, Ashok Kandpal, Manoj Joshi and SOG in-charge BC Joshi were in the team
