Haridwar. On Sunday, a day before Kartik Purnima Snan, more than 80 percent of the hotels were packed due to the arrival of a large number of devotees in Dharmanagari. The markets were also bustling with crowds of devotees. The parking lot was also full of four-wheelers.
Due to the large number of devotees reaching Haridwar on Sunday evening, there was a jam on the Haridwar-Najibabad Highway. There was a long queue of vehicles from Chandighat to Kangri. Due to high pressure of vehicles, vehicles were seen moving crawling.
Hotel Association President Ashutosh Sharma said that due to three consecutive days of holidays, the devotees had already reached Haridwar. Due to which 80 percent of the hotels in Haridwar were full with travelers on Sunday. Kartik Purnima bath is on Monday. Devotees from different states of the country reach Harki Paidi Ganga Ghat for bathing. Due to Sunday being a holiday before Kartik Purnima, the devotees reached Dharmanagari a day before. Due to which a large crowd of devotees was seen in the markets of Haridwar. Crowd was seen in Moti Bazar, Bada Bazar and Upper Road Bazar since morning. Hotel operator Umesh Paliwal said that all the rooms of his hotel were filled with passengers on Sunday itself. Hotelier Yogesh Joshi, Naveen Sense told that most of the rooms in their hotel were booked even before Kartik Purnima. Whereas Pandit Deendayal parking, parking near Anand Van Samadhi, Gaddha parking, Rodibelwala parking were jam-packed with four-wheelers.
