Nainital Municipality will increase the rent of shops according to the circle rate

145 shops of the city were measured, new rent will be applicable from April
Nainital. In Uttarakhand’s Nainital, after the circle rate was revised by the state government, the municipality has also started an exercise to increase its income. This is expected to provide relief to the municipality facing financial crisis.
There is a great need to get Nainital Municipality out of the financial crisis. The municipality will improve its economy by increasing the rent of its shops according to the circle rate. Efforts are now being made to implement the proposal passed in the board meeting three years ago. Measurement of 145 shops of the city has been done, while soon after measurement of all the shopkeepers of the city, new rent will be fixed. Said that new arrangements will be implemented from the new financial year i.e. next month.
Despite having sufficient resources with the municipality, it is proving unsuccessful in raising huge income. Arrangements are going on only with the income of a few crores from building cleaning tax, parking and municipal toll tax. EO of the municipality, Alok Uniyal said that in the 2020 board meeting, the proposal to collect the rent of the shops at the market rate was passed, but efforts could not be made to get it on the ground. He informed that to fix the rent of the shops on the basis of circle rate, the municipality has started measuring the shops. This will increase the income of the municipality
