People of Haldwani will have to pay water bill of Rs 14.69 per kiloliter from smart meter

Haldwani. The people of Haldwani will now have to pay the bill in four months on the basis of readings under the smart meter. Now since the supply system has come under the Jal Nigam World Bank project.
In Haldwani, more than five thousand population used to get water supply from the Gaula river earlier. Later, in view of the increasing population of the area, in February 2020, the work of drinking water scheme started under the World Bank project at a cost of about 12 crores. After about one and a half year, as soon as the tube well, pump house, 32 km line was laid here, Jal Nigam started supplying water by giving connections to half the population. After which, in many places, the cases of getting the bill to the same person from both Jal Sansthan and Jal Nigam came to the fore.
To solve the problem, on April 1, 2023, the Jal Sansthan transferred the supply system including the tube well of Friends Colony to Jal Nigam. Due to which other population will also have to pay the bill through smart meter at the rate of Rs 14.69 per kilolitre.
Jal Nigam World Bank Project’s assistant engineer YS Rawat said that drinking water supply has been started in the entire area. Smart meters are already installed in some places. Where it is not there, its action is going on. With this, the consumer will spend the required water according to the reading
