Badaun: Three people have lost their lives in a tragic accident caused by wrong information on Google Map in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. After this incident, the police has issued a notice to Google.
What is the whole matter?
A few days ago, three youths of Farrukhabad, Nitin, Ajit and Amit were going to Bareilly using Google Map. The map showed them the way through an incomplete bridge, due to which their car fell from a height of about 50 feet and all three died.
Police investigation has revealed that the bridge was shown correctly on Google Map, whereas in reality that bridge was incomplete and the movement of vehicles was prohibited on it. This accident happened due to this wrong information.
Police sent notice to Google
After this incident, Badaun police has sent a notice to Google’s Gurugram office and has sought a reply from them within 7 days. Police have asked Google how a closed and incomplete bridge can be shown correctly on the map.
Case registered against Public Works Department engineers too
In this case, police have also registered an FIR against four engineers of Public Works Department. These engineers are accused of not giving correct information to Google about the bad condition of the bridge.
Statement of Badaun SP
Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police Brijesh Singh said that this accident happened due to the wrong information shown on Google Map. He has questioned Google as to why a closed road was shown as smooth. He said that if Google does not respond within the stipulated time, then the police is capable of finding the responsible officer of Google.
Question on the credibility of Google Map
This incident raises questions on the credibility of Google Map. This is not the first time that an accident has happened due to wrong information of Google Map. After this incident, questions are also being raised about the blind trust on digital devices among the people.
