Almora-Pithoragarh MP Ajay Tamta gets the status and responsibility of Union Minister of State for Road Transport

Ajay Tamta is the sixth MP from Kumaon to join the Union Cabinet

Haldwani. Veteran Ajay Tamta, who won the election for the third consecutive time from Almora-Pithoragarh parliamentary constituency of Uttarakhand, has got a big responsibility in the Modi government. He has been given the status of Union Minister of State for Road Transport.

He is the sixth MP from Kumaon to join the Union Cabinet. His simple nature and impeccable image are the main reasons behind the political position Ajay Tamta has achieved today. He worked to strengthen the party by remaining undisputed in his 29-year political journey. He also has a strong hold among the public. This was the reason that the public sent him to Delhi by giving record votes for the third consecutive time.

52-year-old Ajay Tamta, who became a Union Minister of State from Almora parliamentary seat and MP, started his political journey at the age of 23. His political journey started in the year 1996 as a District Panchayat member. In the same year, he was elected as the District Panchayat Vice President. He was the District Panchayat President from 1999 to 2000 and then he made the record of becoming the youngest Zilla Parishad President. In 2007, he contested the assembly elections from Someshwar seat on a BJP ticket and reached Dehradun. In 2009, he contested the Lok Sabha elections for the first time but missed out on winning. In 2012, he reached the Assembly by winning the election as a BJP candidate from Someshwar. The party fielded him for the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and after winning, he was made the Union Minister of State for Textiles. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he reached Delhi after registering his second consecutive victory with record votes. In the 2024 elections also, the results came in his and the party’s favor. Ajay, who scored a hat-trick of victory on this seat, has been included in the Union Cabinet and made a Minister of State. After KC Pant, ND Tiwari, Harish Rawat, Bachi Singh Rawat, Ajay Bhatt, he is the sixth MP to be included in the Union Cabinet.
