Dehradun.
There is relief news for the tourists coming to the state from outside states. Uttarakhand has rejected the plan to collect green cess as entry tax from outside vehicles. Tourists coming by private vehicles will not have to go through the condition of trip card. This year trip card will be mandatory only for commercial passenger vehicles. Also, the idea of green cess is also not in priority at present.
Both these schemes were also discussed in the meeting chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Earlier there was a system of entry tax for vehicles coming from other states in the state. But later on the instructions of the Central Government, not only this arrangement was cancelled, but all the checkposts were also abolished. The Transport Department was working on the Green Cess scheme to earn additional revenue. According to sources, the government believes that Uttarakhand is a pilgrimage and tourism focused state.
