Dehradun. There is good news for those who travel free in roadway buses in different classes. Now the identity card and pass shown on the mobile will also be valid in the buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation.
Corporation headquarter has received complaints that operators in buses are refusing to provide free travel facility on the basis of ID card and pass shown on mobile. The management has clarified that the identity card and pass kept in DigiLocker will also be valid.
Orders in this regard were issued on behalf of the Corporation’s General Manager (Operations) Deepak Jain on Saturday. It was also warned that even after this, if any operator refuses to provide free travel facility to any passenger, then departmental action will be taken against him.
Most of the people keep their identity card safe in the mobile gallery or digilocker, in this case they show the identity card on the mobile in the buses. The operators ask them for original ID proof and refuse to give them a free ride. The same complaint had also come up with the girl students in the past. Corporation management is issuing online passes to girl students. When the girl students used to show this pass on mobile, the conductor refused.

Under the public welfare scheme, there is a provision of free travel in the ordinary buses of the corporation to girl students, senior citizens above 65 years, women above 60 years, state agitators, dependents of freedom fighters, Divyangjan, military medal winners etc. Apart from these, there is also a provision for free travel in all classes of buses for MPs, former MPs, MLAs and former MLAs along with one of their colleagues. In these, there is compulsion to make passes only for girl students, while in all other categories, free travel is done on the basis of identity card
