Violence continues in Manipur, tension remains in Imphal and Churdachandpur districts
New Delhi. Ongoing violence continues in Manipur. An officer of the Income Tax Department has been murdered. Laminthang Haokip, an Income Tax Department official posted in Imphal, was dragged out of his official residence and murdered.
The attackers belonged to the Meitei community. They beat Haokip to death with sticks. CRPF’s CoBRA commando Chonkholen Haokip was shot dead in Churachandpur district of Manipur. Haokip, posted with the 204 Cobra Battalion, was on leave and had come to his village. The circumstances under which they were killed are not yet clear, but it is understood that assailants dressed as police came to the village and killed them.
