Rain and hailstorm in Uttarakhand, farmers face problems

Rain continues in most districts from overnight till Saturday morning, cold begins

. Due to the change in weather pattern, rain occurred in various parts of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab including Uttarakhand since Friday night. In Uttarakhand, several districts received wet night and rain throughout the night. It’s raining until Saturday morning. This has increased the cold. Crops have been damaged due to rain and hail.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and hailstorm in most parts of the country till March 20. The wheat crop has fallen, while the mustard beans have been broken. On the other hand, there was no damage to the potato, but it definitely affected the digging of potatoes. The Agriculture Department has asked not to irrigate the standing crop. Where there has been no rain and mustard has ripened, it has been advised to harvest the crop immediately. Agricultural scientists say that if there is a hailstorm, all crops like wheat, mustard etc. will be affected more. If the crop is damaged by 15 to 20 percent, then it is advisable to do top dressing of urea in clear skies.

If there is more damage, prepare the field for zayed. Apart from this, the harvested crop has been asked to be covered with polythene. Due to this rain, there will be less germination in maize, urad, moong. Seed displacement due to water logging in chickpea, peas, maize, and peanut fields can result in poor germination. Similarly, strong winds will affect crops.
