Instructions to wear masks and follow social distancing in hospital premises
Haridwar. In view of the threat of influenza-A sub-variant H3N2, sampling of suspected patients of this variant will be started in Haridwar from Tuesday. Arrangements have been made to take samples of suspected patients at Haridwar Mela Hospital and Roorkee Civil Hospital. Patients from other hospitals will be sent to both hospitals for sampling. The samples will be sent to Delhi and Dehradun for testing.
Mela Hospital management has issued guidelines for wearing masks and following social distancing in the hospital premises. Dr Hiten Jangpangi, paediatrician at the district hospital, said around 25 children suffering from cough, cold and fever are coming for treatment daily. Dr Chandan Mishra, senior doctor at the district hospital, said that physician Dr Sandeep Tandon is also getting around 30 such patients daily. In view of all this, the Health Department has started its action.
CMO Dr. Manish Dutt said that guidelines have also been issued to all the district, upazila, CHC, PHC center to follow the guideline.
Long run cough and fever
Pediatrician Dr. Hiten Jangpangi said that the number of patients of cough, cold and fever increases every year in this season. Every year the fever was cured in a maximum of four days and the cough was over in ten days. But this time fever is troubling patients for one week and cough for three weeks.

Runny nose, high fever, cough (initially wet and later prolonged dry), sore throat, chest tightness, muscle and joint pain, headache, tiredness, etc.
People wearing masks
People are now coming to Mela Hospital and District Hospital wearing masks. Apart from the hospital staff, people are also seen wearing masks as a precautionary measure.
Advised to go into isolation
Cmo says that if a person complains of constant high fever, cough, cold, then that person should keep himself in isolation as a precaution.
What to do, what not to doIn case of high fever, difficulty in breathing, seek immediate medical advice. Doctors have also advised avoiding shaking hands and washing hands. The CMO has said to use only paracetamol in case of fever. CMO says that use mask in crowded area. Go to crowded area only when necessary.
