300 women reached Nepal to worship Mother Ganga
Haridwar. 300 women devotees who came from Nepal after the Ganga Aarti on Thursday evening in the company of well-known storyteller Pawan Nandan Shastri and storyteller Vishnu Prasad, a well-deserved disciple of world-renowned storyteller Vijay Kaushal Ji Maharaj, lit lamps.
Storyteller Pawan Nandan Shastri told that women lit 1.25 lakh oil lamps on the banks of the Ganges to get rid of the defects that occur during Rajo Nivriti (menstruation). He told that its description has been given in Reva section of Vamana Purana. According to mythological beliefs, lighting 1.25 lakh diyas made by one’s own hands on the Ganga Ghat can cure the defect of menstruation. According to this belief, a large number of women in Nepal brought cotton wicks with their own hands. They were burnt collectively at Harki Paidi. Each woman lit 1.25 lakh lamps. He told that earlier in 2012 also, 200 women of Nepal had lit lamps. Keeping in mind the environment and cleanliness, this time lights were lit in lamps made of bamboo
