Roorkee case: Child's father files complaint against in-laws
Roorkee. After the death of a young man’s wife in Roorkee, his two-and-a-half-year-old son was converted by his in-laws. This conversion was done under Muslim customs.
The case is from Adarsh Nagar in Roorkee Civil Lines Kotwali area. Arvind Kumar, an employee of The House Finance Company, lodged a complaint with the Kotwali Civil Lines police that about five years ago, he met a young woman from the Muslim community from Gautampuri, Faridnagar, Police Station Bhojpur, District Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. After this, both of them got married according to Hindu customs. On August 13, 2020, they had a son, whom they named Shivansh. His wife died of illness some time ago.
It is alleged that her in-laws took away the body and buried it as per their customs. He also opposed it. But i didn’t listen to him. After the death of his wife, son Shivansh was living with him in Adarsh Nagar. It is alleged that on January 3, 2023, in-laws came home in her absence and assaulted her father. After this, the house was also vandalized. It is alleged that they took his son away from the house. They also took a scooty. When he reached his in-laws’ house, he came to know that his son had been converted. Also, his name has been changed from Shivansh to Asad. When he resisted, he was attacked. He somehow managed to escape to his home.
The youth alleged that when he came home and threatened to complain to the police over the phone, his in-laws reached his house on Sunday and beat him up. On getting information about the incident, people of the Hindu organization took him to Kotwali Civil Lines and lodged a complaint. Kotwali senior sub-inspector Naresh Gangwar said that the complaint has been received by the police. The matter is under investigation.
