For the convenience of ex-servicemen, a major change has been made in the rules of purchase from CSD canteen. Now you can buy goods and liquor items even by visiting any canteen. Both goods and liquor together can take two months’ quota. An online portal https//afd.csdindia.gov.in/ has been launched for canteen card holders to purchase AFD-1 category items. Goods of this category can be ordered online by logging into the portal, which will be delivered directly to the home. Vehicles, TVs, freezers, washing machines, etc. are in this category.
The Army Headquarters issued an amendment order regarding purchase from the canteen. Now there will be no compulsion for soldiers and dependents of soldiers to go to CSD or their unit canteen. The compulsion to renew the canteen card every year has also been done away with. Even the process of making new cards has been simplified. Army Public Relations Officer-Dehradun Lt Col Manish Srivastava has confirmed the order to change the CSD rules. At the same time, steel cards will be made for Army trainees Agniveer and students of military institutions like Sainik School, Military School and RIMC. This process is being started for the first time. They will be able to buy groceries up to Rs 3,500 from the canteen every month. Ex-servicemen were also given relief in the limit for buying electric cars. The four-wheeler limit is fixed at Rs 20 lakh for military officers, Rs 10 lakh for junior commissioned officers and Rs 8 lakh for ranks below that. Category-wise military personnel who buy electric vehicles will get an additional limit of Rs 5 lakh
