Haldwani.
The Jamrani Dam project, which has been running since 1975, has received another important approval from the Dhami government. During the budget session, the government approved expenditure of Rs 710 crore on this in the financial year 2024-25. People associated with the submerged area of the dam have also appreciated this decision. Also said that now the displacement and rehabilitation issue should also be resolved expeditiously.
The current cost of Jamrani Dam is Rs 3808 crore. Rs 1557 crore will be received from the Central Government because the Modi Government has approved it under the PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana. Both Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh will get water from the dam. Therefore, financial support will also be provided from the neighboring state as decided under the earlier MOU.
At the same time, on the second day of the budget session on February 27, the government made a big announcement saying that Rs 710 crore will be given for the construction of the dam in the next financial year. At the same time, people of six villages falling in the submergence area say that now the process of displacement and compensation of those people should not be delayed. The tender for Jamrani Dam construction will no longer get stuck in the code of conduct. The online tender was issued on Tuesday. All terms and conditions related to dam construction have been uploaded on the UK tender website. Interested companies can participate online till March 30.
