Nainital. Tourists and local drivers will now have to loosen their pockets more than before. The Nainital Municipal Board has made a big increase in the Lakebridge toll fee, whose gazette notification was issued on June 28. Now from July 2, this new fee will be applicable on Tallital Lakebridge, Phansi Gadhera and Barapathar toll.
Earlier the Lakebridge toll fee was Rs 110, which has been increased to Rs 500. However, if a driver pays online or through UPI, he will have to pay only Rs 300. Rs 200 will be charged from four-wheeler private vehicles of Nainital district and Rs 100 from bike riders. The municipality has taken this decision under the Traffic Control and Improvement Scheme under the instructions of the High Court.
An annual pass has been arranged for local residents, which has been priced at Rs 5,000. However, this facility will not be given to commercial vehicles outside the municipality area. This fee will be valid for one round, which will curb the movement of unnecessary vehicles in the city. The municipality has already increased the parking fee to Rs 500. Now after the increase in Lakebridge toll, it is clear that the municipality is taking strict steps to reduce traffic pressure in the city. All drivers and tourists have been appealed to follow the rules and give priority to digital payment.
