NRI’s elderly mother murdered after breaking into her house in Pithoragarh

Prima facie it came to light that murder was committed by strangulation, the doorknob was found broken.

Pithoragarh. The elderly mother of an NRI (Non Resident Indian) living in England was murdered after entering her house in the Vadda Chowki area of the city. Prima facie it has come to light that murder was committed by strangulation. Police found the doorknob broken. Two citizens of Nepali origin, who were living on rent in the woman’s house, are absconding and are being suspected of murder.
According to the police, Madhuvi Devi (65), a resident of Wadda, about ten km from the district headquarters, wife of late Ramesh Chandra Chilkoti, lived in a flat in Ghaziabad for a long time. Her son lives in England, while her husband died a year ago. Ramesh Chilkoti was a former army man, who settled in Ghaziabad after retirement. Madhuvi had come here to get her house cleaned and painted during the Diwali festival. When a local woman reached her house for work at around 8 am on Sunday morning, she found the doorknob broken. When she went inside, she found Madhuvi lying dead on the bed. Wadda outpost police reached the spot and took the woman’s body into custody. SP Lokeshwar Singh said that investigation is going on at all points.
