Uttarakhand will take electricity from Haryana and Yamuna Power Limited Company in winter.

In lieu of this, five percent extra electricity will be returned during the rainy season.

Dehradun. The government has started preparations for energy banking to deal with the power crisis in winter. In the form of energy backing, electricity will be taken from Haryana and Yamuna Power Limited Company in winter. In lieu of this, five percent extra electricity will be returned during the rainy season.
In Uttarakhand, water in rivers reduces in winter during November, December, January and February. Due to this, electricity production from hydro power projects gets disrupted. The power generation, which used to be a maximum of 25 million units, comes down to between seven to nine MUs. During this period, as the dependence on the market for supply increases, the prices reach the maximum rate.
Arrangements are being made for 200 MW power from Haryana and 100 MW power from Yamuna Power Limited. MD Anil Kumar said that every possible effort is being made to ensure that the electricity supply remains completely normal.
