16 arrested for duping people of Rs 400 crore in Dubai

Through online gaming apps, gamers used to transfer money to their account.

Noida. Noida Police has caught a big game worth about Rs 400 lakh through the online gaming Mahadev app. On this app, the money of those who play online betting becomes transferred to the app’s account. Sector 39 police have arrested 16 bookies for running betting business through online gaming app Mahadev.
When the matter was investigated, the police found a betting transaction of about Rs 400 lakh. The entire betting business operated from Dubai. The leader of this gang based in Dubai is running an online betting business all over India. Giving information about the case, DCP Harishchandra said that the Sector-39 police station received information that online betting was being done in Sector-107. On the basis of the information, Station House Officer Ajay Chahar, led by ACP I Rajneesh Verma, raided the said place along with the police force. During this time, there was a stir among the speculators who were betting online after seeing the police.
The police have arrested Tarun, Rahul, Abhishek, Akash Sahu, Himanshu, Anurag Sharma, Deepak, Vishal Sharma, Abhirawat, Divya, Prakash, Harshit, Akshay, Neeraj Gupta, Akash Jogi and Deepak from the spot. Also, 80 mobile phones, 12 laptops, 96 SIM cards, 100 ATM cards, passbooks, passports and a large amount of electronics gadgets were recovered from the spot.
The DCP said that about Rs 2 crore deposited in the account of the arrested accused has been frozen. During the investigation, transactions worth Rs 400 lakh have been found in about 20 accounts. Information about other accounts of the accused has been received, whose transactions are being investigated.
