4 army personnel electrocuted in Uttarkashi, 1 dead, 3 injured

Soldiers were putting up tents in preparation for the tribute program at the War Memorial

Dehradun. An Army jawan died of electrocution while preparing for a tribute programme to be held at the War Memorial at Shaheed Park Gyansu in Uttarkashi district. The jawan was posted at the 11th Battalion Jekalai stationed at Harshil Ami. Three other soldiers have also suffered burn injuries due to electrocution.
On Tuesday afternoon, a team of the 11th Battalion Jambu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JKLAI), deployed in the Army’s Harshil, was preparing for the tribute at the War Memorial at Shaheed Park Gyansu on Wednesday. In the evening, all the young men were putting up tents.
Suddenly a thunderstorm accompanied by strong wind came and the tent rose upwards. Due to this, the pipe of the tent collided with high tension. The captured soldiers were electrocuted. Rifleman Karan Azad (25), a resident of Village Chura, Tehsil Mahanpur, District Kathua Jambhu died on the spot. Pawan Kumar son of Saje Singh, Vishal Sharma son of Late Late. Rajkumar, and Ganesh Raj Kumar were injured. Other army personnel present at the spot brought all the injured to the hospital. Kotwali Inspector Dinesh Kumar said that the pm’s action is being taken throughout the panchnama of the deceased.
