The girl was arrested two years ago in charas smuggling
Pithoragarh. A girl of Nepali origin escaped by scaling the 15 feet high wall of the police prison located in front of the police station. The police had arrested the accused girl with charas two years back. The girl carried out the incident by making a rope of saree.
Just opposite to Pithoragarh Kotwali, there is a jail with a capacity of about 60 people, where currently 83 male and eight female undertrial prisoners were kept. Anushka alias Aakriti (25), a resident of Darchula, Nepal, escaped from the prison at around 3.30 am on Sunday. During the search, it was found that Anushka made a sari rope and climbed on the roof of the women’s cell about 15 feet high, and by hanging from the same sari, escaped by jumping over the prison wall. Police teams did intensive checking to find the absconding prisoner Anushka.
