Made the woman sit in the car on the pretext of giving lift, locked the doors of the car and took her to the forest and misbehaved
Dehradun. A young man from Biharigarh raped a Chandigarh woman by making her sit in his car on the pretext of giving lift. The woman was also robbed. On the complaint of the victim woman, the team of Clementown police station and SOG arrested the youth from his house in Biharigarh. The woman’s bag has also been recovered from the accused.
A woman told in a written complaint at Police Station Clementon that she had come to Dehradun from Chandigarh on April 30 to celebrate her friend’s birthday. On the night of May 3 at around 9.30 pm, she was standing on the Shimla bypass road to the ISBT to catch Vikram. Then a car driver stopped near him and asked to drop him till ISBT. Believing the woman driver, she sat in the car. On reaching ISBT, the car driver did not stop the vehicle and locked the doors of the car threatening the woman.
The accused forcefully took the woman to the forest near Asharodi and raped her in the car. After this, he looted her bag and fled from there. The woman told that she hid in the forest overnight due to fear and reached her friend in the morning. where he narrated the incident. A case was registered at Police Station Clementown and higher authorities were informed.
A joint team of Police Station Clementown and SOG was formed to search for the accused and the search was started.
The team checked about 150 CCTV footage of the incident site and the routes leading to it. The vehicle of the accused was seen in these footage. The information of the accused was extracted from the number plate of the vehicle. Based on the information, the police on Friday arrested the accused Manish Kumar from his village Khushhalipur Biharigarh Saharanpur. As identification, the bag and clothes looted from the woman were recovered from her.
