Anganwadi workers from across the state march to Chief Minister’s residence, clash with police

Anganwadi workers gathered in the capital with various demands including increasing the minimum honorarium to Rs 18,000 and freeing them from the work of other departments.

Anganwadi workers marched to the Chief Minister’s residence with various demands including increasing the minimum honorarium to Rs 18,000 and relieving them of the work of other departments. During this period, there was scuffle and scuffle between the workers and the police. The workers remained standing near the barricading in Hathibarkala till late evening.
On Monday, Anganwadi workers gathered from all over the state under the banner of Sevika Mini Employees Organization gathered at the parade ground. They marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence shouting slogans from here, but were stopped by the police by placing barricades near Kendriya Vidyalaya 2 located at Hathibarkala. When the angry workers started moving forward shouting slogans, the police did not let them go.
During this, there was a scuffle and scuffle between the police and the workers. After this the workers sat on strike there. She warned that she would not move from here until a representative of the government came to listen to her. In the evening, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s coordinator Inderjit Kadhakoti reached there as a representative. Taking a memorandum from the workers, he assured them that he would soon hold talks with the Chief Minister to take action on their demands.
During this, state president of the organization Rekha Negi said that she has been agitating for the demand for a long time. Earlier, departmental minister Rekha Arya had also given assurance of increasing the honorarium, but till now no action has been taken by the government. Therefore he was forced to travel today.
Pooja Joshi, who arrived from Nainital, said that at present the workers are getting an honorarium of Rs 9,000 and 300, which should be increased to Rs 18,000. Also, they should be kept free from the work of other departments. He also demanded increase in honorarium on the basis of seniority.
Activists Asha Negi, Sarita Devi raised the demand of starting pension scheme and timely payment of rent of Anganwadi centres. On this occasion, central in-charge of the organization Sumati Thapliyal, State Organization Minister Pauri Meenakshi Rawat, State General Secretary Udham Singh Nagar Ranjita Arora, Pauri District President Poonam Kaintura, Vijayalakshmi Nautiyal from Uttarkashi, Mamta Raturi from Tehri, Pinky Singh from Dehradun, Sunita Nautiyal from Rudraprayag, Nainital. Hema Malini from Champawat, Meena Bora from Champawat, Bhagwati Joshi from Bageshwar, Abhilasha from Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar District President Manpreet Kaur etc. were present.
During the march of Anganwadi workers to the Chief Minister’s residence, there was a jam from Dilaram Chowk to Hathibarkala. The barricading at Hathibarkala caused a lot of trouble to school, college students, parents and other commuters. During this time, the workers got angry at a driver who was trying to leave the place and sent him back from there.
