Ankita murder case: Supreme Court hearing on March 27 regarding demand for CBI inquiry

Dehradun. The Supreme Court will hear on March 27 the special permission petition filed demanding a CBI inquiry into the Ankita Bhandari murder case. The court, without issuing notice, asked the state government to present the investigation report of the case in a sealed cover on the next hearing.
The petitioner submitted before a bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagaratna that the Uttarakhand High Court was wrong in dismissing the petition filed seeking a CBI probe. The High Court had said that the government has set up an AIT to probe the matter, so there is no justification for a CBI probe. This order of the High Court has been challenged in the Supreme Court.
Opposing the plea, Additional Advocate General of the state Jatinder Kumar Sethi said that if a CBI probe is ordered into the matter, it would demoralize the state police.
