BJP leader in Haridwar commits suicide by shooting himself with his licensed revolver

Before committing suicide, BJP leader fired two shots in the air, concrete reason for suicide was not revealed.

Haridwar. On New Year’s Eve, BJP leader Vijyant Chaudhary committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed revolver in Jwalapur area. Till now the concrete reason for suicide has not been revealed. Before committing suicide, the BJP leader had fired two shots in the air. Police have found empty shells from the incident site. The incident happened on Sunday night around 10.15 pm.
Vijyant Chaudhary (38), resident of East Nath Nagar area, was the former vice president of BJP Central Haridwar Mandal. Presently he held the post of District Convenor of Modi App. He used to work on contract in BHEL. On reaching home on Sunday evening, he took out his licensed revolver and fired two shots in the air. The wife tried to snatch the revolver from his hand, but could not succeed. The wife called her relative living nearby on her mobile phone. As soon as the relative reached home, the BJP leader put the revolver to his forehead and shot himself. He was taken to the city hospital in a bleeding state, where he was declared dead. On receiving the information, SP City Swatantra Kumar Singh, CO Niharika Semwal, Kotwali in-charge Vijay Singh reached the spot. Police found three shells from the spot and 14 shells from the entire room. The licensed revolver is in the possession of the police. SP City said that the wife is not in a position to talk at present. Information in this regard will be collected soon.
