A woman filed a case, Mahant is absconding, four cases are already registered against Mahant
Ghaziabad. On Friday, a woman has filed a named report against Mahant Mukesh Goswami of the ancient Shani temple located at Ganganahar Ghat, known as Mini Haridwar. It is alleged that Mukesh had installed a camera upstairs in the women’s changing room at Ganga Ghat. Mahant used to watch its footage on his mobile phone. The police went to the spot and investigated before registering the case. Meanwhile the Mahant absconded. A police team has been deployed to search for him.
A woman resident of a village in Muradnagar has stated in the FIR that she had come with her daughter to bathe at the Ganga Ghat on the afternoon of 21 May. After bath she went to change her clothes. In the room built on the ghat, he saw that a camera was installed upstairs. Its focus is on the room itself. His head shook. She immediately came out from there. People nearby told that this camera is connected to the mobile phone of Mahant Mukesh Goswami.
The woman says that when she reached the Mahant, he got angry. The allegation is that he used abusive language. Also threatened to face consequences if they complained to the police. After this she left from there and lodged a complaint in Muradnagar police station. On the other hand, the police first took information about the cameras at the ghat. Mahant was also asked about the allegations and then a case was registered.
After this, they reached the temple to arrest Mahant but by then he had absconded. In the evening, the police demolished Mahant’s shops built illegally on the ghat with JCB. There were total five shops. This action was taken on the report of the administration. Police say that this action has been taken in order to remove encroachment from the ghat. Before absconding, Mahant said in his defense that there was no camera installed in the women’s changing room. The monkeys turned the nearby camera, so that the focus became in that direction. Has apologized to the woman who filed the case.
This is the fifth case registered against Mahant Mukesh Goswami. There are four more cases before this. The first one was registered in 2007 at Civil Lines police station in Meerut. This was under the sections of forgery and fraud. After this, one case each under Forest Act was registered in Muradnagar police station in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
