The nomination of an independent candidate from Yadgir in the Karnataka Assembly elections has caught everyone’s attention. The independent candidate deposited Rs 10,000 coins of one rupee each for the security deposit. The officers lost their sweat in counting the coins.
When the independent candidate kept a bag full of coins in front of the officials, they were shocked. The independent candidate had collected these coins from the voters of the entire constituency. The bail fee for each candidate in this year’s election in Karnataka is Rs 10,000. That is, whoever contests the election, he will have to deposit Rs 10,000 as security.
It took officials two hours to count the coins lying on the table at the office in Yadgir. Independent candidate Yankappa, who filed nomination papers from Yadgir assembly constituency, reached Tehsildar’s office on Tuesday carrying the banner. Assembly elections will be held in Karnataka in a single phase. Polling for 224 assembly seats in the state will be held on May 10 and counting of votes will take place on May 13
