Cold wave in Uttarakhand due to snowfall, snowfall alert again today

Dehradun. The weather will be dry in Uttarakhand today. There are chances of shallow to moderate fog in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
The weather in the state changed again on Saturday and there was heavy snowfall on the Himalayan peaks including Chardham, Hemkund Sahib, Auli. Roads are blocked at many places due to heavy snowfall.
More than 50 villages in the state have been cut off from the district headquarters. Intermittent snowfall continued on the peaks throughout the day. Rain and hailstorm occurred in low lying areas. After snowfall and rain, the entire state came under the grip of cold. In most areas, the temperature has dropped by four to six degrees Celsius.
According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, the weather patterns in the state may remain changeable for the next two days.
A yellow alert has been issued regarding heavy snowfall in areas at a height of more than three thousand in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh and hailstorm with isolated thunderstorms in the plains districts.
It was sunny in Chamoli district since last Saturday morning. However, the sky remained cloudy in the afternoon. There was snowfall in Badrinath, Sri Hemkund Sahib and Gaurs in the late evening due to which there is an outbreak of cold wave.
Badrinath Highway is blocked three km ahead of Hanuman Chatti due to snowfall in the past few days. Mandal Chopta Motorway was blocked due to snowfall from kilometer 42 to 46, which was made smooth for traffic by removing the snow at 4.30 pm.
The road blocked by snowfall beyond Auli Joshimath Motorway Kawand Band has also been made smooth for traffic. Due to the changing weather patterns in the district, severe cold is also being felt. People are getting relief from the cold by lighting bonfires.
