Dead bodies of a retired soldier and a woman found in Dehradun

Incident in Vasant Vihar area, retired soldier walks and the woman had come out of the house to cook food in a hut.

Dehradun. The bodies of a retired soldier and a woman were found lying in a roadside irrigation ditch in the tea garden area of Vasant Vihar area on Sunday morning. The retired soldier had left home for a walk in the morning. The woman was going from her house to a hut to cook food. Prima facie the police are considering collision with a vehicle as the cause of death. Both have minor injury marks on their bodies. A broken part of the vehicle was also found near the spot. Police are also investigating from the murder angle. Post-mortem of both the bodies will be done by a panel of doctors.
The incident took place near Daru Chowk on Gorakhpur road. Former soldier Sandeep Mohan Dhasmana (40), son of Madan Mohan Dhasmana, resident of Ambiwala, had gone out for a morning walk at around 5.30 am on Sunday. He would often reach back home in an hour or one and a half. Did not arrive even after three hours on Sunday. When the family members became worried, they started searching nearby. Location found near Daru Chowk. When the family members arrived in search of Sandeep on the basis of this location, they saw that his shoe was lying near the irrigation canal. Another passerby saw that Sandeep’s mobile was lying there.
About a meter away I saw that Sandeep was drowned in the irrigation water. A woman also drowned near his feet. The faces of both were clearly visible in the water. He informed this to Premnagar police. When the police reached the spot, they came to know that this area belonged to Vasant Vihar police station. Police arrived from Vasant Vihar police station and got information about the woman. The woman was identified as Hemlata (38), wife of Sunil Kumar, resident of Pitambarpur. Hemlata used to go every morning to cook food in a hut in a nearby village. Police took the bodies of both of them in their custody and sent them for post-mortem. Both the parties did not file any complaint in the matter till late evening.
