Champawat. Tourism activities are continuously increasing in Champawat district. Where the work of reforming another various tourism sector is being done. At the same time, infrastructure development works are also being done in these areas by creating many destinations in the field of religious tourism, eco-tourism activities. In order to connect unemployed youth with self-employment, work is being done in these areas by encouraging other adventure sports like paragliding, paramotor, angling, rafting.
Rafting is taking place continuously in the Mahakali river in the border area of the district. During a visit to Purnagiri tehsil on Wednesday, District Magistrate Narendra Singh Bhandari himself rafted the Kali river for about 11 kilometers from Thehuligad’s Charan Temple to Boom. Also, on the occasion of the inauguration of Purnagiri Mela on March 9, Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami ji is also likely to participate in rafting.
In view of this, the District Magistrate directed the working organization Uttarakhand Drinking Water Construction Corporation to complete the construction of a walkway from Charan Mandir to the mahakali river site from where rafting starts as soon as possible.
The District Magistrate said that this is a suitable destination for rafting, where the work of connecting more and more youth with self-employment should be organized for 9 months except for three months of the year. During this, the District Magistrate also informed that a program is also proposed to conduct national level rafting in Mahakali river soon.
During this time, While giving various information regarding rafting by Moni Baba, he informed the District Magistrate that last year about 800 tourists were rafted by his organization in this area. Rafting is done here for 9 months in a year by his organization. Along with this, the District Magistrate also inspected the site being prepared for paramotors in Kirora Road between Tanakpur, Naigoth, Thwalkheda. During this, Paramotor Operator Amit Parmar, who came from Rajasthan, informed that the work of the ground will be completed by Saturday and tourism will get new wings in the district in the field of paramotor.ARTO Surendra Verma, DDMO Manoj Pandey, Forest Officer Gulzar Hussain, Assistant Engineer Irrigation RK Yadav, AMA Bhagwat Patni and trainers Moni Baba, Bhagat were present during the rafting.
