Retirement age will be increased from 60 to 65 years: Dr. Rawat
Dehradun. Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that now doctors posted in hilly areas of the state will also be given mountain allowance like the faculty posted in medical colleges. The Provincial Medical and Health Services Association (PMHS) has been demanding allowances at par with medical faculty.
In view of the shortage of specialist doctors, the Health Minister also indicated to increase their retirement age. He said that it would be increased from 60 to 65 years. Soon this proposal will be brought in the cabinet. He made it clear that the retirement age limit would be optional and the final decision on it would be taken only after consulting the doctors. The Health Minister said that on the lines of Doon, soon it is being considered to operate cardiac units on PPP mode in Haldwani and Srinagar. For this also the tender process will be started soon. Said that every possible effort is being made to expand health services in the state. By the year 2025, the number of doctors in the state will be in surplus.
