New Education Policy: Union Ministry of Education sent instructions to all states
New Delhi:
The Union Ministry of Education has asked the states to enroll only children above six years of age in the first class under the new education policy. In the latest order sent to the states, the ministry has asked all the states to implement this system uniformly, reiterating the provisions of the education policy.
Under the earlier rules, completing five years of age was considered sufficient for admission to class I. Whereas under the new education policy, the implementation of the provision of six years of age has started in Kendriya Vidyalayas etc. run by the Center. The National Education Policy 2020 recommends strengthening children’s education at the foundational stage as a national priority, the ministry said in a statement. This includes five years of learning opportunities for all children (between the ages of 3 and 8).
