Dehradun. To deliver parcels to consumers in the shortest possible time, the Postal Department is opening Nodal Delivery Centers (NDC) in urban areas. Now these centers will be opened in Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Kashipur, Rudrapur of Doon-Haridwar. The postal department has sent its proposal to the headquarters.
There are more than 2300 post offices across the state, through which mail is not only booked but also delivered. The Postal Department is continuously trying to provide better service to its customers. For this, nodal delivery centers are being opened in the urban areas of the state. There has been good response in Doon and Haridwar in a month.
Till now the parcels coming from different states reach Doon and Rudrapur first. From here they are sent to the district level post office and then reach the branch. Parcels of more than 500 grams will be delivered on time through the nodal delivery centre. According to TS Gusain, Senior Postmaster of Dehradun GPO, till now the parcels booked from Delhi used to reach Doon the next morning, after sorting here they were sent to the branch. Delivery took two-three days. Parcel from NDC to Delhi is being delivered within 24 hours.
Doon-Haridwar centers will now be opened in Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Kashipur, Rudrapur.
