Drowning girl saved, but Congress leader lost his life

The body of a Congress worker who jumped into Shaktinhar to save a girl who was drowning near bridge number two Moksha Dham under Kotwali Vikas Nagar was recovered from the intake of Dhakrani Power House on Tuesday morning. Police handed over the dead body to the relatives after Panchnama and postmortem.
According to the police, a girl was drowning near bridge number two on Monday late evening between seven and eight o’clock. Then Congress worker Shubham Bhatnagar (28), a resident of Dakpathar, who was going in a car along the canal, jumped into the canal to save the drowning girl. Meanwhile, the villagers passing by saved the girl by putting a rope, but could not save Shubham and he went missing by drowning.
On information, Kotwal Shankar Singh Bisht May police force reached the spot and started the search operation in the light of torch. On Tuesday morning, the police again started the search operation. Meanwhile, the personnel of the hydropower generation center Dhakrani informed the police about the presence of a dead body in the intake. Police reached the spot and retrieved the body.
