Due to Kanwar Yatra, the buses of Transport Corporation going on Delhi route will go to Delhi via Yamunanagar-Karnal-Sonipat route from Gagalhedi-Saharanpur Expressway instead of the scheduled Roorkee-Muzaffarnagar-Meerut-Muradnagar route from July 22. Private vehicles going from Dehradun will also be able to go to Delhi via this route.
According to Transport Corporation officials, if the crowd increases on Bijnor route, then the buses going to Delhi from Rishikesh, Haridwar and Kotdwar will also go via Yamunanagar via Saharanpur Expressway. Due to increased distance of travel on the changed route, the fare of buses will also increase.
After the information of closure of Roorkee-Muzaffarnagar-Meerut-Delhi route from 22nd July due to Kanwar Yatra, General Manager Operations of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation Deepak Jain has ordered the AGMs of all the depots that buses should be operated only on the routes changed by the police-administration for the Kanwar Yatra. Currently, all the buses going from Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh are being sent to Delhi via the prescribed route Roorkee-Muzaffarnagar-Meerut, but from midnight of 21st July, the traffic on this route will be changed.
In such a situation, orders have been given that the buses of late night of 21st July should also be operated from the changed route. The distance of Doon-Delhi on the old route is 258 km, whereas on the changed route this distance will increase to 317 km. The fare of the buses of the Transport Corporation will also increase due to the difference of 59 km in the distance.
Buses going to Delhi, Gurugram, Jaipur, Faridabad, Alwar, Agra will also be operated via Karnal. This route change will be applicable till Shivaratri i.e. August 2. Along with the increased fare on the changed route, about one and a half to two hours extra time will also be taken. During Kanwar, the toll on the changed route Saharanpur Expressway-Yamunanagar-Karnal route is higher and its distance will also be more. In such a situation, the fare of Volvo buses going from Dehradun to Delhi can increase from Rs 75 to Rs 80.
