Electricity consumers in Uttarakhand will again get electric shock from July, bill will be expensive

Dehradun. Electricity bill will be expensive in the state in the month of July. Under the Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA), the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission has given permission to recover Rs 14 crore 21 lakh from the consumers.

Actually, under the rules of the Center, now the rate at which UPCL buys electricity in relation to the prescribed price is recovered from the consumers. UPCL had filed a petition in the Regulatory Commission, in which it was told that Rs 14 crore 21 lakh is outstanding for the electricity purchased by UPCL in the quarter of December, January and February.

UPCL had demanded recovery of this amount from the Commission. Commission Chairman ML Prasad has given permission to recover this amount in the bill of July month under the FPPCA rules. Along with this, instructions were also given that its record should be maintained separately. According to this amount, there will be an increase of four paise per unit in the July bill per consumer.

The demand for electricity in the state has broken all records. On Thursday, the demand reached 6.2 crore units. UPCL’s Director Operations MR Arya said, there is full availability in comparison to this much demand. There is no power cut due to shortage of power anywhere. He said, smooth power supply is being ensured in view of the Chardham Yatra. He appealed to the consumers to save electricity in the interest of the state.
