Dehradun. Energy Corporation of Uttarakhand will welcome electricity consumers in the new year with increased electricity rates. The corporation has increased the electricity rates from 23 paise to 55 paise per unit for the bills coming in January.
Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission had implemented the system of fixing electricity rates every month in the state under the central system. In this sequence, the Energy Corporation has declared the rates for the month of December. The rate has been increased by 15 paise for BPL consumers, 38 paise for domestic consumers, 52 paise for government institutions and 55 paise per unit for commercial. Apart from this, 16 paise more will have to be paid for private tube wells and 23 paise more per unit for agriculture based activities. Among industries, LT-HT industry will have to pay 51 paise more, mixed load connection will have to pay 49 paise more and Railways will have to pay 48 paise more per unit. An increase of 45 paise per unit was fixed for electric vehicle charging stations. In this regard, orders were issued by Energy Corporation MD Anil Kumar. Ever since the system of fixing electricity bills every month has been implemented in the state, there has been a huge increase in the rates for three months in the name of fuel and electricity purchase price adjustment fee, while nominal relief was given only once in November.
