Former CM Harish Rawat asked Chief Minister Dhami for Rs 10 thousand bigha compensation for the disaster victims.

If action is not taken on their demands by October 20, they will block the highway and warn of demonstration on the streets of Dehradun.

Dehradun. Under the leadership of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, farmers marched to the CM residence on Saturday afternoon. Harish Rawat, after meeting Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the evening, demanded to increase the compensation amount to the disaster affected farmers.
On Saturday, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat reached Hatigadkala at around 12 noon to visit the CM residence. The police had already put up barricades here. During this time, Harish Rawat sat on a dharna with the farmers here. During this, he told the journalists that the compensation of Rs 1100 per bigha to the disaster affected farmers is an insult to the farmers and farmers. The amount of this compensation should be increased as compared to the compensation to the farmers. We demand Rs 10 thousand per bigha. Sugarcane is the pillar of the economy of farmers. The prices of sugar are continuously increasing in the world and the demand for Exol is increasing.
To encourage sugarcane farmers, the purchase price of sugarcane this year should be above Rs 425 per quintal. The purchase price of sugarcane should be announced soon. Crop cycle i.e. six months of disaster, electricity and water bills of farmers and disaster affected families should be waived off. There should be a ban on recovery of six months’ loan of disaster affected farmers and six months’ interest should be waived off or the government should reimburse it.
In the memorandum, they were given time till October 20 to take action on their demands and if the government does not take favorable action on their demands by October 20, 2023, then farmers will be forced to protest on the roads of Dehradun, from blocking the national highway. .
The administration sent this demand letter of former CM Harish Rawat to the Chief Minister’s residence. On which CM Pushkar Singh Dhami invited former CM Harish Rawat to his residence at 7.30 pm on Saturday evening. During the meeting on this occasion, former CM Harish Rawat told CM Dhami that huge amount of sugarcane farmers of Iqabpur Sugar Mill of Haridwar district for the year 2020-21, about one hundred crore sugar mills, is owed to the farmers. You promised to pay the same to the farmers. His promise should be fulfilled.
Harish Rawat also suggested to the Chief Minister that a solution should be found by holding a high level meeting of the Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary, Sugarcane Secretary and DM of Haridwar. Chief Minister Dhami assured to call the meeting soon. On this occasion, former state president Ganesh Godiyal, MLA Mamta Rakesh, Furkan Ahmed, Sanjay Saini, Rajesh Tastogi, Rajpal Kharola, OP Chauhan, Virendra Panwar, Jot Singh Gunsola, Om Prakash Sati Babban, Amarjeet Singh, etc. were present.
