Gangotri-Yamunotri-Badrinath highway closed, thousands of passengers stranded, debris everywhere

Dehradun. Rain continues from the mountains to the plains. More than 40 contact routes of the district including Gangotri National Highway and Yamunotri National Highway are blocked. Pilgrims and Kanwar Yatris are stranded at various places due to the blockade of the highway. There are about 3000 Kanwar Yatris between Gangnani to Gangotri who are in their vehicles since Sunday evening.
More than 2000 Kanwar Yatris are also stranded between Bandarkot and Chinyalisaur. About 500 pilgrims are reported to be stranded between Barkot to Jankichatti on the Yamunotri National Highway. It is still raining in the district. Due to the closure of various motorways in Uttarkashi, more than 100 villages of the district have been cut off from the roadway. While power supply has stalled in more than 150 villages.
Gangotri National Highway was blocked at more than a dozen places due to rain in Uttarkashi district. Due to which the police and the rescue team could not reach Gangnani from Uttarkashi Bhatwadi and Maneri to rescue during the night. On Tuesday morning, when the team of Border Roads Organization made the highway smooth between Bhatwadi and Ganganani, the injured could reach the health facility in Ganganani. The injured were taken to the district hospital.
On the other hand, Badrinath Highway in Chamoli has been closed due to debris near Hanuman Chatti Benakuli. Traffic has been smooth on the highway in Khachranala in the early hours. The highway was also closed at Pagalnala in the night, which was made smooth in the early hours
