Haldwani violence: Internet service restored, 5 including SP leader Matin’s brother arrested

Haldwani. Curfew has been lifted from large areas of Haldwani. According to DM Vandana Singh, now curfew will continue only in Vanbhulpura, Army Cantt, Tikonia to Tinpani and Gaulapar areas of the city. At the same time, the DM has also issued orders to relax the curfew in the border areas. The curfew imposed in the city from around 9 pm on February 8 has been relaxed after 37 hours.
After the DM’s order, restrictions on vehicular traffic as well as business establishments have been freed on the Nainital-Bareilly motor road. Despite the relaxation in curfew limits from 10 am in the morning, shops remained closed in most areas of the city throughout the day, while most of the establishments opened in the evening.
Five people including SP leader’s brother and two former councilors have been arrested in the Haldwani violence. More than 10 people have been detained. Due to curfew, the buses of Delhi, Dehradun and Nainital were almost empty. The railway management said that there will be no stoppage of the train at Haldwani railway station. BSNL’s internet facility has been started after 48 hours. DGM Bhim Bahadur said that internet will remain closed in Vanbhulpura area. According to the administration, the facilities of private companies will start by 10 o’clock.
