In case of accidental death while on duty, the dependents of sub-servicemen will get grant-in-aid of Rs one lakh.

Dehradun. In case of death during the service, one lakh rupees will be given as ex-gratia grant-in-aid to the dependents of the Upanal employee. The Upanal Board is going to issue a new order canceling the recently issued order of Rs 50,000 assistance. This was confirmed by Subal Board Chairman Major General Shammi Sabharwal. Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi has asked to modify the recent order of ex-gratia.
Till now only 15 thousand rupees were given to the dependents of the Upanal employee on his death. Recently, on 19th February, in the conference of sub-servicemen, the Minister of Military Welfare had decided to increase this amount to one lakh rupees. Later, in the meeting of the sub-panel board, keeping in view the availability of financial resources, fifteen thousand rupees were increased to fifty thousand rupees. Subal employees were not happy with this decision.
The sub-divisional officers did not make it public after making the ex-gratia order on July 31. On August 10, when the Upanal Employees Union came to know about the order, they strongly raised it before the Sainik Welfare Minister and the media. Federation’s State President Vinead Godial, Convenor Mahesh Bhatt demanded action from Minister Joshi in this matter. According to sources, even the minister was not happy with the decision. The minister directed the upal administration to reconsider this decision.
