Dehradun. Doon Police has busted a big online betting racket operated from Dubai and arrested six accused from Delhi. This action was taken on the basis of secret information at a home stay located on Rajpur Road late on Wednesday night. Police have recovered two laptops, 17 mobile phones, Rs 5.33 lakh in cash and other objectionable material from the spot. The arrested accused were betting crores of rupees through banned betting apps during IPL matches.
Giving information on Thursday, SSP Ajay Singh said that a joint team of SOG and Rajpur police station raided the Cozy Nest Home Stay located on Rajpur Road. Here betting was being done on the ongoing IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. The accused were working as bookies after coming to Dehradun from Delhi and the betting amount was being collected through cash and online medium.
According to the police, this gang was being operated at the behest of the kingpins sitting in Dubai. The accused used to send a link to the people, on clicking which they would get a number, by contacting which the betting amount would be transacted. The accused had planned to collect crores of rupees during the IPL season, but before that the police arrested them.
The police have found clues of transactions worth crores of rupees in the bank accounts of the accused, which is being investigated. The SSP said that all the arrested accused are residents of different areas of Delhi.

- Shakti Singh (35), Kewal Park Extension, North Delhi
- Dheeraj Sharma (29), Khajuri Khas, North East Delhi
- Nishant (35), Navada Housing Complex, Delhi
- Karan (29), Sant Nagar, Karol Bagh, Delhi
- Sohan Singh (44), Krishi Apartment, Vikaspuri, Delhi
The police are also looking for other people associated with this gang and investigation is going on to dismantle the entire network.
