ADG issues orders suspecting pro-Khalistan activist Amritpal Singh to be hiding in Uttarakhand
Dehradun. An alert has been sounded in Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and the capital Dehradun bordering Uttar Pradesh in view of the possibility of pro-Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh hiding in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Police has started intensive checking at Haridwar, Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar border. According to Additional Director General of Police Dr V Murugesan, the Punjab Police has raised the possibility of Amritpal hiding in Uttarakhand, after which strictness has been increased.
He said that the police was already put on alert mode, but after getting inputs, instructions have been given to take extra vigilance in Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar besides Haridwar. Along with this, vigil has been increased on the borders with Punjab and Haryana.
The SSPs of the three districts have been directed to search suspicious persons on the border. Check the vehicles of Punjab and Haryana number. The ADG said that the Special Task Force of Uttarakhand Police has also been asked to monitor the internet media and gather information about Amritpal. Separate teams have been formed by the STF, which are in constant touch with the Punjab and Haryana Police.
The Punjab Police has launched a major operation against pro-Khalistan separatist Amritpal Singh and his associates accused of attacking the Ajnala police station in Punjab. Many of Amritpal’s associates have been arrested and sent to jail. Meanwhile, Amritpal escaped from Punjab.
In view of this, vigilance has also been increased in Punjab’s neighboring states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Punjab Police officials have expressed apprehension that Amritpal is hiding in Uttarakhand, Maharashtra or other states through Haryana. Security agencies have also suspected that Amritpal may have fled to Nepal. In such a situation, the police have also increased strictness on the Nepal border.
