Leopard attacked grandfather and grandson in Haldwani, both injured, panic among villagers

The incident happened in broad daylight in Dauliya No. 2 of Halduchaud Gram Panchayat Halduchaud Dolia.

Haldwani. In Dauliya No. 2 of Halduchaud Gram Panchayat Halduchaud Dolia, a leopard attacked and injured grandfather and grandson in the field near the house at 4 pm on Saturday.
After coming out of the forest of Gaula range of Terai Eastern Forest Division, the leopard reached the residential area and attacked the resident Daya Krishna Chopra, aged 65 years, and his grandson Bhuvit Chopra, aged 5 years. The people around made a ruckus and barely rescued both of them from the clutches of the leopard. Both the grandparents were seriously injured by the leopard attack.
There was panic among the villagers after the incident. The injured have been admitted to Haldwani Hospital with the help of 108 service. After the information, the forest department team has started monitoring the leopard. For the last few days, the activity of leopards is increasing in all the villages situated near the forests of Terai East and Terai Central Division. On Saturday, the leopard attacked the villagers in Dauliya No. 2, adjacent to the Gaula range of Terai Eastern Forest Division. There is panic among the villagers due to the sighting of leopards in the fields.
If the villagers are to be believed, the attacking leopard hid in the nearby fields after the attack. After the information, the patrolling team of the Forest Department reached the spot. The team has started monitoring the leopard. SDO Anil Joshi told that two people including a child were injured in the leopard attack. The team has been put under surveillance. Soon the leopard will be released in the wild
