Dehradun. The Ayurveda and Unani Department of Uttarakhand has taken major action against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited. The State Drug Licensing Officer of the department has suspended the licenses of 14 medicines of Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited and banned the manufacturing. The above medicines include medicines for blood pressure, diabetes, goiter, glaucoma, high cholesterol etc.
District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer, Haridwar has also filed a case in the CJM court against Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited for misleading advertisements. Its hearing is to be held on May 10th. Let us tell you, the hearing is going on in the Supreme Court on the petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). IMA’s argument was that Patanjali had made false claims of treating some diseases with Ayurvedic medicines. These claims are in direct violation of the ‘Drugs and Other Magic Remedies Act-1954’ and the ‘Consumer Protection Act 2019’.
The court had asked Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna to publicly apologize in this matter. At the same time, the State Drug Licensing Officer was also severely reprimanded. The next hearing in this case is to be held on Tuesday. After the strict stance of the court, now the Ayurveda and Unani department of the state also seems to be coming into action.
