Major accident in Nepal, two buses washed away in Trishuli river, a total of 63 passengers including drivers were on board the buses

The buses were going from Kathmandu to Gaur of Rautahat, relief and rescue operations continue

A major accident took place in Nepal on Friday. A landslide occurred on the Madan-Ashrit highway in central Nepal, due to which two buses carrying about 63 passengers were washed away in the Trishuli river. A total of 63 passengers including drivers were on board the two buses.

Chitwan Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav confirmed the incident and said that according to initial information, a total of 63 people including bus drivers were on board the two buses. Due to the landslide, the buses were washed away in the river at around 3:30 am.

He said that we are with the team at the spot and the search operation is going on. Due to continuous rain, we are facing difficulty in searching for the missing buses. Let us tell you that these days it is raining heavily in Nepal.

Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed grief over this incident by tweeting on Twitter. He said, “I am deeply saddened by the reports of about five dozen passengers missing after a bus was swept away in a landslide on the Narayangarh-Muglin road section and the loss of property due to floods and landslides in various parts of the country. I direct all government agencies, including the Home Administration, to search and effectively rescue the passengers.” At the same time, due to bad weather, all flights from the capital Kathmandu to Bharatpur, Chitwan have been canceled for today. According to District Magistrate Indradev Yadav, buses named Angel and Ganapati Deluxe, which were going from Kathmandu to Gaur in Rautahat, have been swept away in the landslide. According to preliminary reports, there were 24 people in the bus going to Kathmandu and 41 people in the other bus. Giving information, officials have told that three passengers in Ganapati Deluxe were successful in saving their lives by jumping from the bus. Superintendent of Police Bhavesh Rimal said that Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel are engaged in relief and rescue work.
