Minimum support price for purchase of Kharif crop paddy declared in Uttarakhand at Rs 2183 per quintal, purchase will start from October 3

Target to purchase 8.30 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in Uttarakhand, Rs 2203 per quintal for Grade-A category paddy.

Dehradun. The paddy procurement policy for Kharif season 2023-24 in Uttarakhand has been released on Saturday. A target has been set to purchase 8.30 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. The minimum support price for common category paddy is Rs 2183 per quintal and for Grade-A category paddy is Rs 2203 per quintal.
Food Additional Secretary Ruchi Mohan Rayal has issued guidelines to the Food Commissioner, District Magistrates of Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Champawat, Dehradun, Pauri and Nainital as well as officials associated with purchasing agencies regarding paddy procurement.
This purchase will take place from October 1 to December 31, 2023, i.e. for a total period of three months. However, formal procurement of paddy will start from October 3 i.e. Tuesday. October 1 is a holiday and October 2 is Gandhi Jayanti.
A total of 286 procurement centers have been created for paddy procurement. Of these, 239 are in Kumaon division and 47 in Garhwal division. 2.66 lakh metric tonnes of paddy will be purchased at these purchasing centres. 5.64 lakh metric tonnes of paddy will be procured through commission agents. A target has been set to procure 1.38 lakh metric tonnes of paddy through 183 centers of Uttarakhand State Cooperative Union Limited. 80 thousand metric tons of paddy will be purchased through 42 centers of the Food Department, 20 thousand through 23 centers of NCCF, 25 thousand through 35 centers of the Regional Cooperative Union, and 3000 metric tons of paddy will be purchased through Uttarakhand Consumer Cooperative Union Limited. Not more than 500 quintals of paddy will be weighed at a single fork of a purchasing center in a day.
