Children strangled, woman attacked with heavy object, father absconding
New Delhi. A minor brother and sister were murdered in Shashi Garden in Pandav Nagar, while their mother was fatally attacked. The deceased have been identified as Kartik Chaurasia (15) and Aastha alias Gunnu (9). Mother Shannu Chaurasia (40) was admitted to AIIMS, where her condition remains critical.
Karthik and Aastha’s father Shyamji Chaurasia is absconding since the murder. Fear is being expressed that Shyamji himself has committed the crime. It is suspected that after strangulating the two children, the accused attacked their mother with a heavy object. Later, thinking that all three were dead, he locked the house from outside and ran away. Police is searching for Shyamji.
Apart from the crime team, FSL has collected evidence from the spot. After completing the formalities, the police took possession of the bodies and sent them to the mortuary for post-mortem. Several teams are being formed to search for Shyamji. It is feared that both the children were murdered on Thursday night or Friday morning.
District Police Deputy Commissioner Apoorva Gupta says that how the murder was committed will be revealed only after the post-mortem report. The reasons will be revealed only after the accused is caught. Apart from investigating the case, different police teams are searching for the accused.
According to the police, Shyamji Chaurasia, originally a resident of village Ahina, located in Post Mandhata of Pratapgarh, UP, lived with his family in street number 6 of Shashi Garden of Pandav Nagar in Delhi. Apart from wife Shannu Chaurasia, there were two children Karthik and daughter Aastha in the family. Shyamji runs a tea shop near Mayur Vihar Phase-1.
Karthik was a student of class IX and Aastha was student of class VI in a nearby government school. Shyamji’s four other brothers live with their families in Pandav Nagar and Shashi Garden. Relative Amritlal told that the family members were trying to contact Shyam since Friday morning. Shannu’s mobile was switched off, while Shyamji’s call was not being answered. Meanwhile, in the evening, Shyamji’s younger brother Ramji reached his brother’s flat on the second floor. It was locked from outside. Brother returned after seeing it locked. Same thing happened on Saturday morning also. Ramji returned after seeing it locked, but he felt a foul smell coming from the house.
Sensing something was wrong, when Ramji reached home again in the afternoon, the foul smell was getting worse. The case has been reported to police The police reached the spot, broke the lock on the main gate and entered inside. Lights and fans were working inside. The bodies of Karthik and Aastha were lying in a room.
Shannu was lying in an unconscious state in the other room. He was breathing smoothly. There were injury marks on his body. He was immediately sent to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to AIIMS. As soon as the information was received, senior police officers reached the spot. Shyamji is absconding from his house.
